Gone Fishin'
Oh fly fishin', how I love thee. Let me count the ways...
I have been fishing since as far back as I can remember. My older brother I'm convinced is part fish (his skin does look a little scaly at times). When no one else could even find a fish if they threw a stick of dynamite in the water, he would always be pulling one up that was hooked on the end of his line. I'll never forget the day he came home from fishing at a pond near our house with a fly that he had tied stuck in his eyebrow. My mom just kind of got used to it! I guess I was about 6 or so at the time.
Now, almost 19 years later one of my very favorite things to do is to go fishing with my family. My brother was a fly fishing guide while he was in college, so he supplies any and all equipment we could ever need. It's fun too because we have never come back empty handed with him around. Even if none of us can catch anything besides algae or the occasional stick, we can always count on the excitement of watching him reel one in. Here are some pictures I managed to take while wading the South Holston River on our last trip. I think you can guess by now the weather conditions were overcast and raining. I promise I've taken some pictures while the light was actually good!
And yes, I had my Canon 60D strapped on my back wading the river praying the good Lord would guide my every step! I must say it made the trip a little more nerve wracking!
